Education & Experience

An Anam Cara (Gaelic for “soul friend”), Rev. Wolf-Muhleck has the skill and training to:

  • Provide spiritual companioning for individuals/couples/families/groups by inviting a deeper relationship with the body/mind/spiritual aspects of their lives.
  • Provide guidance in various types of contemplative practice and the process of self reflection fostering spiritual growth; pain and symptom management; and stress reduction
  • Provide grief and loss support and sacramental rituals and services to individuals, family/caregivers and professional staff
  • Provide an ongoing spiritual assessment and offer a range of healing modalities, such as Zen meditation practice, progressive relaxation, mindfulness meditation, therapeutic touch, dream tending, and journaling.

 

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
With a unique background in Celtic Spirituality, health care chaplaincy, end-of-life care, nursing, and organizational development, Rev. Wolf-Muhleck has the holistic perspective, education, and experience to assist individuals, families, and professional care staff moving through life’s passages.

Health Care Chaplaincy
Chaplain for five years at Cancer Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital (Tampa, FL), providing psycho-spiritual counseling and support for patients, family, and staff members. Instituted or promoted multiple palliative care programs (pet therapy, therapeutic touch, mindfulness meditation, leukemia and lymphoma patient/family support groups, and lending library). Served three years on  the Ethics Case Consultation Committee and two years on the Palliative Care Task Force.

End-of-Life Care
Chaplain and member of the interdisciplinary leadership team for eight years at Hospice House, a 72-bed inpatient unit of the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. In addition to her pastoral couneling and support, she:

  • Initiated and built an infrastructure to continue a highly successful “Comfort Care Basket” project. Facilitated agency-wide involvement to provide each new patient at Hospice House Woodside with a welcome gift that also functions as a palliative arts toolkit for staff. Developed and presented training for 125+ staff members and volunteers. Provided over 1,200 baskets in initial eight months.
  • Participated in team responsible to design a bedside interdisciplinary team meeting, so that patients and their family have the benefit of a single planning meeting with staff from various functions to discuss expectations, process and needs. Resulted in increased patient/family satisfaction, and decreased miscommunication.
  • Provided clinical mentorship for those enrolled in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) as a step toward becoming a professional chaplains.
  • Provided mentorship to spiritual care volunteers.

 

Nursing
Over twenty years experience in nursing and related health care leadership, training and organizational development positions. An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with specialized training in the care of deaf patients.

  • Provided primary care to students at the National Technical Institute of the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. As manager of student health services, initiated campus-wide health education workshops and programs.
  • Mentored USF graduate students in the psycho-spiritual aspects of patient care at the Center for Elder Health in Tampa FL.
  • Organizational Development
  • Developed extensive meeting management and change implementation skills during ten years experience in organizational development for health care, government and education.
  • Provided organizational development and training support to a hospital undergoing major transition. Assisted employees to accept and support the change as they moved from a community hospital to a regional medical center.
  • Facilitated monthly meetings for teams with diverse, interdisciplinary members. Helped team to develop a common agenda, establish priorities, practice consensus building and conflict resolution skills, in order to meet critical goal (environmental clean up of military sites).
  • Taught organizational behavior curriculum to college students, primarily for adult learners completing their education or obtaining an advanced degree.
